I just realized that I was using a different usercolor mod than the one from clanthemes. I had downloaded it and went to my downloads folder to extract it but hit the wrong one. Anyway, after testing the one from clanthemes, there are a lot of hurdles to overcome for it to work. So much of the forums profile has been disabled. I will look at it again later and see what I can do.

I made a mistake. I was working with the wrong mod. There is a phpbb2 user color mode and I have it working on a test site. It is not as nice as the phpbb3 one and it requires enabling the forum profile fields that were disabled in I think RN 2.4. Here are some images of the mod

So this mod does not have a drop down box, correct? And do I need to uninstall my old user color mod? I guess I'll just delete the database tables that the query from the first color mod I installed added, and delete all of my files on public_html/ and use my backup from before I installed the mod, because I have custom links and mod_rewrites so that the user profiles are located at mysite.com/{username}, so for example, [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] would load up your profile page if you were registered on my site. I will try to install that mod later. Does it flawlessly work?

It will work with the other mod. You just need to delete the users in the first mod in the forums admin. If you downloaded the mod before this post, delete it and download it again. I had a mistake in the profile_add_body.tpl changes. Mod_rewrites should not matter. Be sure to change the nuke prefix to your ttl prefix before you run the query in phpMyAdmin.

There are plenty of jquery color pickers that could easily be used with this mod.

Is there a way to implement a drop down selection box like the phpbb3 one? Also, could you post the source of where you found that mod? Thanks.

Here is the link to where I found the phpbb2 mod
[ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

I converted it to work with bbtonuke.

There are plenty of jquery color pickers on google. If I have time later today, I will see if I can find an easy to install one.

Maybe the assumption that TTG uses Nuke and PHPBB2 is incorrect.

It's possible to use a Nuke variant with PHPBB3. If you do, and PHPBB3 is not significantly modified (e.g. by using a "bridge" between Nuke and PHPBB3 to share users), you can use many (but not all) PHPBB3 add-ons directly from PHPBB3 (i.e. since PHPBB3 isn't "nuked," you don't need a "nuke" version of the addon). However, since this modification affects user maintenance, you would need to do one of the following:
- use the PHPBB3 user maintenance
- (as I mentioned in my earlier, "too detailed" post) modify the Nuke user maintenance

Either one makes future upgrades (of Nuke or PHPBB3) more difficult since the modifications would have to be reapplied. You might think it's wrong be concerned with this, but others might not.

I haven't reviewed the different approaches for bridging Nuke and PHPBB3, but the user maintenance function (i.e. whether it's done via the Nuke or PHPBB3 functions, or both) should be considered. Older versions of Nuke used both PHPBB2 and Nuke Your Account modules functions for user maintenance, but this isn't a good user experience IMO.

This post suggests that the TTG site is using a bridge between a heavily modified version of Nuke and PHPBB3 (since no bridge is required to use PHPBB2 and since the mod you want is PHPBB3). Unfortunately, the major features that could be used to confirm PHPBB3 have been removed (e.g. copyright, help, etc.), though there are some features that suggest it's PHPBB3 (e.g. ability to specify a page number instead of clicking through all the pages on a topic with many replies). You can confirm this with Sean and / or Telli, of course. And since Telli has already done this, maybe he can help you.
How could TheTechGame use phpnuke with bb 3.x if it says in their skin configuration file that they use a phpbb 2.x template?

It is possible the original file belonged to a phpBB 2.x template and they simply left the credits to phpBB 2.x in place despite the fact the may have heavily modified it.

How would I allow my forum profile to be editable? Like you said on the post for this mod on TON.

The install instructions have the modifications in it to make it editable.

phpBB 3 was released 4.5 years ago, so they might have used it. Anyway, I'm sure someone can point you to one or more bridge options, but I haven't been following that unfortunately.

Assuming you have a bridge and address the issue of where the user profile is maintained by using the phpBB 3 user maintenance function (RavenNuke uses the RN Your Account module, not the phpBB 2 function), you might be able to apply the fix via AutoMod or by following instructions included with that mod (I haven't looked at the installation for it).

Whether that's more involved than my original suggestion isn't clear...

Is there a way to make it with a drop-down box like this?

If you can find one like that you should be able to add it. I picked the one I did because it fit the need and it was extremely easy to implement.

The config file could be a leftover from an old installation, and the CSS from the old installation might still work with the theme. Anyway, it's just conjecture - doesn't really matter at this point.

On a side question, is there a way or mod to merge the nuke profile with the forums profile?

A lot of the user forum profile data is already shared with the RavenNuke user table but merging them completely would be ill advised. The forum is a module and should really keep it's data seperate so at a later date, it might be possible to use a different forum.

Is there a way or mod to implement the upload avatar feature in the Your_Account module instead of the forum profile? I'm planning on DELETING the forum UserCP, since it's only used to upload an avatar.

I'm not aware of any ready made MOD to do that, though it might be possible if you have the CKEditor/Elfinder replacement for FCKEditor installed. Even so, please keep in mind that when an avatar is uploaded via the forums, a simple algorithm is applied to the file name to change the file name once uploaded and this new filename is stored in the database. If you use a different upload method, you'll need to compensate for the file name being changed or the avatart image links will be broken.

What did this site (ravenphpscripts) do to make the edit user info redirect to edit the forum profile, and for it to be unlocked and used in place of the your_account edit profile? This would make it a lot easier and less complicated for the custom username color mod.

To redirect it. open modules/Your_Account/public/edituser.php and add

Code:

header("Location: modules.php? name=Forums&file=profile&mode=editprofile");

after

Code:

if (!defined('RNYA')) {
   header('Location: ../../../index.php');
   die();
}

To unlock the forum profile, do what Palbin suggests here [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Edit: You will need to remove the space after the ?. I had to place it there to keep shortlinks from rewriting the link.
