Multiple news post on Home page

I have tried to reduce the number of news post on my home page. Is there a mod or block that can reduce this down? Here is a pic of what I am talking about:

Unfortunately, this is a zoomed out version. The dates in the upper left run over into the right side at 100%.

How many articles do you want display in the index?

You can manage this in the settings of admin section.
The news counts from last to the first posted article (decending).

I went looking under preferences and news config to lower the amount to 1 maybe 2 articles. Where should I be looking?

Ok, you can create/use a News category, for example you can call it "storage". Then edit the not needed articles, choose the created category and set radio button of "Publish in Home?" to "No". [ Only works if Articles category isn't selected ]

WOW!!! Thank you so much. I was beating my head against a wall trying to get that to work right. What would really be great is a way to scroll through them, like with a picture to the right or left and a description opposite of the picture, or maybe tabs, or something like that.

Its an very old function inside the cms. You can also create articles directly in this catagory on the same way.

If you want jump into the created catagory, then you can activate the Catgories block in the Blocks-Adminstration of the admin-section.

AJAX-Tabs in News index are not so good. It would lose the dynamic of the module. Always remember, JavaScript works only on the client side. If Javascript is disabled in the user's browser, which would no longer work. Many templates would no longer work, too.

Oh, cool, I appreciate your information. I will try that and maybe clean up my website. I was able to just post one post on there.
