Is there a way to collapse the nuke forums by default. I have seen it on a few sites but I am not quite sure how to achieve it. I have lost of categories on my site and the forums are difficult to navigate.

Thanks

amcb10, since this is really a phpBB/BB2Nuke mod question, I have moved this to a more appropriate forum. Hopefully that will help get you an answer.

BTW, just to let you know, I am not a forum mod expert as I have never had a need for a mod...

I looked around to see if this topic ever got answered and didn't have any luck.

I'll post my question here since its closes to what I’m trying to do.

I'm using the standard intergraded phpbb that come with RN install. I'm looking for a way to have my categories list be the only thing showing when first going to my forums index. That way the page isn't a mile long and my members can chose the categories they what to see the sub-cats for.

Or is there a why to upgrade to the new phpbb3 that I think offers these features.

Thanks for any help!

I think I'll wait for RN to come out with the port. They seem to be the smartest and most secure code experts.

But I'm still looking for a code edit that can get me by for now.

Thanks

I would hold your breath on us doing a port. For something like this there probably isn't anything nuke specific so you could probably use a mod that was made for phpbb specifically. If you can find a mod that you like just post it here and I will take a look at it and let you know.

I am not going to provide edited files just let you know if it will work.

Exactly. That's what I trying to find out if that's what he's referring to. If so it would just be a matter of changing the link the users are taken to upon entering the forums. But he may some mod in mind that does more.

forumsindex-c-26.html change the number to one of your forum categories, and then edit all the links that point to your forum.

Speaking of collapsing the forum. Any one know how to make it collapse by default? Without selecting any categories?

NeapolitanWorld, Thanks for the reference.

I have made [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] a Sticky and corrected the title Smile

But I think we're talking 2 different issues here. The original post and Eldorado's post are referring to the Forums proper, not the Collapsing forum block.

[Edited to correct my typo in Eldorado's name]

Actually it's Eldorado in one word (book from Voltaire) Razz , But yeah Raven is right , I'm looking at the *.tpl code just now , But I can't find any references to collapse and Expand even though I know it's about the Category Title .Could it be in the Forums Module?

Rofl when on google I found this post again Razz

I have corrected the typo Wink

From one of my favorite John Wayne westerns Smile
(By Edgar Allen Poe)

Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old,
This knight so bold,
And o'er his heart a shadow,
Fell as he found,
No spot of ground,
That looked like Eldorado.

And, as his strength,
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow;
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be,
This land of Eldorado?"

"Over the mountains
Of the moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied,
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

I have looked in the Forums Modules and at some of the .tpl files as well and can not find what may lead me to be able to have my forums collapsed by default when a user comes into the forums. So do I need to use a Collapsing forum block to make this happen or can the code be changed in one of the files in /Modules/Forums/, or .tpl files ?

I am so confused... Shocked

k.

I installed the block-ForumsCollapsing, very cool, but what I am looking for is what Raven has going on in http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/forumsindex-c-26.html.

I would like my categories collapsed by default without selecting a category to get them collapsed.

Trunks talks about editing [forumsindex-c-26.html] and the links that point to my forums. The only link I have pointing to my forums is in the modules block and I can't seem to find what I need to edit.

This is what my link would be once I collapse my forums by selection a category [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Were would I edit to include, I would guess
Code:
&file=index&c=1

Or am I way off here ?

gom,

Basically all you need is to follow these steps to get the result of ravens link.

1. Go to your forums and click on the topic you want your visitors to see first. This will provide the link in your address bar.

2. Copy that link

3. Paste the link to any links on your site that's labeled (Forums)

After you have changed the links to point to the new link. Your (Forums) will now point the user to the topic of your choice.

Hope this helps as its not a forum code issue, its a link issue.
