I didn't see this anywhere, so I wonder how many people actually take the time to notify providers when a hack attempt is made. I have this saved in my Drafts folder of Outlook. When I get an email from Protector, I send an email in the following format:

Quote:
The following information is for your records:

Date & Time: 2006-04-20 18:44:25 EDT GMT -0400

Blocked IP: 83.64.192.135

User ID: Anonymous (1)

Reason: Abuse-Filter

--------------------

User Agent: none

Query String: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Get String: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Post String: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Forwarded For: none

Client IP: none

Remote Address: 83.64.192.135

Remote Port: 38202

Request Method: GET

This user is attempting to hack a website on my server. Your failure to take action will result in your entire IP range (83.64.192.0 - 83.64.192.255) being blacklisted from my server.

I await your response.

Then, if I don't receive any type of response, their IP range goes right on the server blacklist. It is kind of harsh, but I am a firm believer if the provider doesn't punish the user, no one else will. When people start finding out they can't get to numerous web sites, they often switch providers.

My two cents.

Anyone use anything different?

I would start with the explaination up top, before the details.

I do report users to the ISP, at least for those in the western countries that would most likely do something. I don't do it for many foreign countries, because I know they just won't do a darn thing. No real forms, because some of the situations are quick different.. between wiki spammers, hackers, referral spammers, or webhosts... but gotten quite a few of these issues supposedly resolved by their admins.
