Visible themes based on groups or other permissions

To save re-inventing the wheel, has anyone already done any work allowing user selectable themes through a groups or other permissions check?
A friend has a need to only allow one specific theme (plus the default theme) to be visible (and therefore selctable via the users profile) either using NSN Groups of the standard forum 'Group' system.

To expand more.
The site is a Harry Potter fan site and registered users get 'sorted' into various 'Houses' - this is currently taken care of using the forum group permissions to restrict which forums they can post in - but it could easily be another groups type system).

What the webmaster is trying to acheive is create a custom theme for each 'House' and only the appropriate 'House' theme (plus the default theme) will be selectable to that user via their profile.

Me neither, I think I will end up hard coding this as the forum 'groups' will remain constant so it's just a question of filtering the 4 I need to set the permissions on.

well is it an idea to build in a multiple theme selector?
I know it sounds the same but its not realy.
I mean the theme selector that goes around....
seems to me that maybe it can be altered to just work for a group .
sure its not goana be be easy...im just thinking up loud...

AS RN7.6 is using Groups and I intend to update my lady friends website at some point in the near future, it would be sensible for me to utilise the nsn groups functionality for creating the permissions based theme selector.

For what she needs, it doesnt need all the bells and whistles like an admin gui so hard coding it will be enough.
