On the site I'm currently working on, I can't seem to see .htaccess or anything like that. I'm assuming it's not supported, or at least it won't be until work starts again.

However, I do notice that NS has given me a path to .htaccess as well as .staccess..

Is this worth a try, or would that just be silly?

This is a result of not properly setting up your FTP client. In *nix environments, a file that begines with a . denotes a hidden file. In order to list hidden files in *nix you must add the -a parameter/option to your command. It's referred to as a file mask. In other words, if you were using a *nix shell, to list the files in your current directory you might issue an ls or ls -l command. You would then be presented with a screen listing of all files except those beginning with a dot .. To see those along with the others you would need to use ls -a or ls -la.

The same goes for your FTP client. Somewhere in your client setup you need to add a remote file mask setting of -a. For example, if you use WsFTP, under Site Options -> Startup you should see a screen similar to this

Notice the line that says Remote file mask: -a? That tells wsftp to also list the hidden files. Your client should have a similar option.

I use WSftp and can find no such window. I have finished my install and everything works except .htaccess and .staccess. Does it matter? If it does is there another way to get the same result? Thanks for the wonderful bundle BTW.

No. Depending on what version of wsftp that you are running, it is there. Look in the wsftp Help and look for remote file mask or hidden files.
