Need some general advice...

Hey all, ive been approached about building a eccomerce site that can display information, display images and small video clips, and can also act as a shopping cart. So i thought...why not phpnuke?

I dont want it to really look like nuke though but i want the functionality...so my question(s) are 1) Is phpnuke a good way to go with this? and 2) Do you know of any good books or tutorials that will help me on my quest to build a efficient, yet unique looking, phpnuke site?

I can code php as well as OOP PHP so technical stuff isnt a problem. But i thought id get a feel from everyone else on how they felt about going this route. My main reason for wanting to use phpnuke is b/c i dont want to build an ecommerce from scratch...this person is not paying me nearly enough =). Thanks for the input!

well to my opinion phpnuke can be used for about anything i guess..
and as for the shopping cart,well there are many complete carts out there for phpnuke and you can change them to your likings as well.
But writing one yourself would take a lot of time to...so using a shop that already excist is likely the best choice.

osCommerce, a very powerful ecommerce application, has been integrated with PHP-Nuke - you can find several distributions by searching here and elsewhere for osc2nuke.

Some Nuke-specific shopping carts:

The NukeEmporium module is also good, though I'm not sure where you can currently download it.

Aser's Shop module is also used widely.

CCart is another Nuke-specific shopping cart.
