I've just got to know..

What the heck did you do to your PHP-Nuke and theme and how do I get a copy? Very Happy

I've never seen any nuke (besides CPG) this close to html transitional compliant! I mean, nobody else is even CLOSE! FB is probably at home scratching his head trying to figure out what you did.

I know you've done a lot (it's quite visible) but man, this is unreal.

Performance has jumped considerably as well.

What are you using for compression (and how?).... My Gzip (Nuke's 7.4 default) is plugging away, but a couple of my blocks are just huge problem children. (especially my right block CZLinks, which I've modded to death but I'm thinking it's only a day away from its last) I'm thinking about using mod_gzip, but I just don't know if that's a good idea yet, I'm still looking a different solutions and methodologies.

I've rewritten a ton of code, but well.. you know how it is. I'm strill trying to figure out if there is a way to just cache particular BLOCKS, something I'm doubting. The caching discussion threads on various sites tend to go six ways to sunday about using methods.....

Anyway... Hats off to you Raven.. fantastic job! Can't wait to see the message "THIS SITE IS HTML 4.01 TRANSITIONAL COMPLIANT" here, it's something that I've never seen on a PHP-Nuke site.... ANY PHP-Nuke site!

Wow! Now I'm even impressed with me ROTFL - Someone finally noticed Wink

I am not using any compression as I found that GoogleBot doesn't like it, at least the way that had been recommended. OTOH, I do have the standard gzip logic in mainfile.php and haven't seen any advantage either way. Content-Transfer-Encoding is the latest weapon in my arsenal but the verdict is still out although I can see immediate improvements. Also, the XP SP2 issue Windows XP SP2 Kills Internet Connections! was bogging down my PC.

The theme, of course, is another fine work by NukeMods. Here's the major one: As time allows I have been trying to clean up code by running my site through HTMLTidy. It's a great program, imo. That's probably the key to what you're seeing. As to caching, Cache-Lite comes the closest to allowing selective caching that I have found.

Thanks again for the encouraging post!

Sad Alas! 'Twas an error that caused you to think that I was near. The validator was dying because a syntax error gave it a migraine Laughing Regardless, as I said, I am chunking away as time allows.

Yeah.. I noticed that tonight when I went to compare your results to mine.. to see if your site would ban me or prevent the output from being display.... alas, I didn't want to take a 'chunk' out of the results of your hard work.....

You're still closer than I am though!
