Hi there,

I am new.

I am not sure I am in the right forum......
Embarassed

I have just deleted my phpnuke and postnuke sites (was still at the beginning admin stages setting them up) as I could not work out how to do this next bit........
Rolling Eyes

How do I link scripts to the files on the database after setting up a module/block?

Also, after I had added in the script to the database the error message is reading,,,, sorry you can not access the script or something like that..

I can install the php stuff again as I still have all the files etc and it wont take long.

Can anyone help me please or point me in the right direction, I am lost.

I create a block/module but I do not know where to start in creating the links etc.

Thanks Kate

Once you've created the block you should just be able to activate that block in Admin 'Blocks'

The content (links) in the block all show up automatically.

You can add modules and blocks and just activate them thru the Admin panel.

You shouldnt need to go into PHPmyadmin to do that.

Is that what you mean?

Confused
Thanks for getting back in touch Smile

When you create a module all you put in is the name is that right? Do I need to add anything else in the first column with the name like a link?

I pressume you use the template in the normal phpnuke version for this.

I think I am getting confused between the blocks and modules. The fictioneer version I have got is a module I think. You can see it running on [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] if u really want to see what I mean Smile under their fanfiction link. Smile

I have downloaded fictioneer for phpnuke so it should work in Raven's updated version of phpnuke (fingers crossed). I am an author.

I am currently frustrated because although I have run the sql file for the fictioneer and created tables to the same database as the phpnuke I am using, it does not seem to be linking up.

I have also got to have the past nuke initialised is this the same as activating it? I have been trying to get it linked up to use in cpgnuke but so far without anyluck. I love this script and have the stand alone version on my homepage Smile but I like the php look sites better as its neater.

I could maybe do with some help or advice getting it installed if that is possible.

I have seen it work on other phpnuke sites so am sure if they can get it working so can I but I am new to php and its taking me longer to learn than html.

sigh

Ok if its a proper nuke module you basically upload the module to the /modules/ directory (you said you ran the sql file into the database already) then go to the admin area -> Modules (find the module's name and click activate.) If you want to set it to something other then all visitors click the edit link this is where the permissions are set for who can access the module. The links would appear in the modules block automatically (Sommaire gives you control over where it will appear)

Very Happy

Thanks for that Smile

I will try it tomorrow as its 2am in the morning here in the UK and I need my pit. I thought I would tidy up my ftp client of its folders that I dont need so I am more organised.

I thought I was doing something wrong and I think it was uploading to the wrong directory Rolling Eyes as I had been uploading to the html directory Rolling Eyes dohhh hehehehe. That prolly explains one reason why the links didnt show up at all.

We may get some place with this by the end of the week if the Gods are smiling down on me.

Thank you to you and Muffin for giving me some useful info and tips on php Smile. I have made notes and will follow them once raven's php package has been loaded to the database. I like it Smile

I may need some more advice later possibly I will see how I get on.

Many thanks.

Very Happy

Thanks guys and gals XX
