Greetings good people.

Can I use one data base to manage RN2.5 in two sites? I have a new client that has two closely related businesses with separate websites on unique IPs. The RavenNuke CMS is in my mind ideal for her needs with it's info management capabilities. I am thinking I can instal a RavenNuke CMS in both of her sites, run them from the same data base and when her clients log in from one business they see that businesses info when clients log in from the other business they see that businesses info and her staff from both businesses have one CMS login and data base to deal with. Am I correct in thinking this application will work in this manner for this client? I have never tried it and since it will be live production I thought I would ask you good folks if my thoughts are correct before I proceed.

I am thinking the homepage for the base cms can go to a splash page style php page permitting the surfer to chose which base site they wish to return to and at the same time giving both businesses a little more exposure. It seems to me it also gives both businesses the full capabilities of RavenNuke with one data base to deal with. Simply trying to keep it simple for the end user. What say you good folks?

Thanks for your thoughts!

In theory yes it's possible, that's why there are two configurable database table prefix's in config.php
$nuke_user prefix is the one you need to share. You'll probably need to alter some of the Apache configuation though to allow a remote connection to one of the databases - if the accounts use cPanel or Plesk, you can usually do it from there by opening up a secure tunnel from a specific IP address to give one account remote access to the other database.

I don't know anyone that has actually tried it though, so it is still just a theory.

My Thanks. This client has locations in Northern Florida and Southern Georgia. All of her staff are highly educated professionals and I believe RN will give her a plaform to streamline communications between her various locations, her staff and her main office. One data base gives everyone; staff and patients alike one login one central location to manage both businesses. I am going to give it a shot. I will explain to her that in theory it should work there may be glithes. I'll keep you good folks posted as well.
