website instead of ip

I have had recent attacks from the same websites but with different ip addresses. These attacks were blocked and abuse message sent to me, but the ip was not blocked. Most are "filter".

My question is would it be better to permanently block via website rather than ip address?

If they can get a different ip address it doesn't mater what you are blocking. In my opinion.

If the site has a valid domain that won't change whereas the ip can depending on how they have it hosted. If you have a domain name pointed to your home computer and did not get a dedicated ip from you isp, then your ip address can change.

Sentinel currently comes with a list of bad websites.

I know that, but if they are getting a new IP the domain name essentially doesn't matter because why use it in the first place.

Why not just block the referrer with the current functionality?

With ip reassigning ip's there i a chance that a valid user/client could be blocked from your site. Plus if the site that is the abuer keeps attempting and the ip changes, you just end up blocking more ip's.

Just an idea that all RN team members may want to consider/evaluate.
