I am pretty new to the whole website biz but i'm learning fast. My website is [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] I set up using the template from a free template site and I use PHP Nuke for everything else. I had someone go in and re-do a lot of coding or something I don't know but bottom line is i'm having one problem.

Private Messaging.

The module isn't there when I go to look for it. It has Private Messaging there but when people try to PM other people it acts as if they didn't type in a name.

Now me and my tech department have been looking and learning for 2 days now and we think it may either be bugged code, SQL Database messup, or something.

Any ideas?!

If you turn on error reporting you might see something. However PHP nuke does that these days. If you had RN you could turn on dblogging too and see if there are any MYSQL errors. But then again if you had RN you probably wouldn't be having the problems.

So should I scrap the whole thing and start over or what? I'm VERY new to this stuff and as you can see at my website I have put a lot of work into what I could.

Of course this site is VERY PARTIAL to Ravennuke and we would recommend that you just start with RN 2.30 if at all possible. We try to support all flavors of *nuke but we are increasingly unfamiliar with the later versions of the core PHPnuke so our support is of course better when it comes to RN ... which in turn is a much better product.

There are ways to convert any version of PHPnuke to Ravennuke but it is much simpler if you don't have much data and can start from scratch.

Well I backup'd my SQL databases... as long as I get to keep my template and someone can show me how to put it back up and as long as I can put my pictures back in the template spots like you see on my website

I have NO problems using Raven Nuke

Cuz I plan to use this web hosting service for a very long time as I am gonna be taking web designing classes soon to learn all this stuff officially.

From what I can see on your web site I'm not sure what the template accomplishes that you could not put in the opening message in Ravennuke. But that's your choice. Taking courses is a very good idea. As is having a good backup of your SQL databases and some practice in restoring them just in case. Search on "bigdump" here and grab a copy of that off the web and learn how to use it in case you ever need to restore a full Nuke database. Just words to the wise. Smile

Any other suggestions? Raven Nuke? Anything? Private Messaging is bombed on my site [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] but I am loving everything else.

I like the template cuz it has the info at the top right

Ok, I'm a bit confused here. When I look at your site, both the new RN captcha is there as well as being XHTML, so it looks to me as though you are running RavenNuke rather than PHP-Nuke. Can you tell us which version of RavenNuke this is (look in nuke_config for the version field) please and let us know? I'd like to get this thread into its rightful forum. Also, since this is powered by RavenNuke(tm) rather than PHP-Nuke, it might be nice to change that too... Wink

So, if this is RN, please turn dblogging on within rnconfig.php and see if you can see any errors being produced.

ABOVE is what I see when I look in Fantastico de luxe
But I went into the database ( I think ) but I found nuke_config and browsed it and it said version was rn2.20.01. Make any sense? What happened was I think the site originated with PHP Nuke or Raven but the guy who helped me set it up changed a lot of the code himself (or so he said) because things weren't working very well like the text editor.

Any suggestions on plan of action?

aeonicstorm, it most likely started out as a Fantastico install, like you said, but then was migrated to RavenNuke(tm). rn2.20.01 is definitely ONLY RavenNuke. Please do as I asked above in my previous message about turning on db logging and let us know if your rnlogs/dblog file contains any errors. Be sure this file is writeable though first!

Its powered by phpBB 2.0.10.Rolling Eyes
I would suggest start fresh and maybe try an other theme.
Everything works in RavenNuke like it should and the themes are tested and W3C valid.

It is Raven Nuke, I have come to find out and it was a messup with the code of the theme I was using XD-Zeda.

username instead of username2 , I found it in the code and deleted the 2 now PMing works.
