Hi, I've been working on a friends site, trying to set it up for him. Everything went well and has been running great for the last 2 months with no problems. Well last week he asked me to make a buddy of his an admin and I set him up through sentinels and set him up in the "Edit Admins" button in the ACP.

All went well for a week and he had limited access in the ACP. Well he ended up having some comp problems and needed to wipe his HD. When he went to log in again, he had came back and I guess changed his User login which when he went to login the ACP, he got pass the sentinel and went to login with his new password, and it didn't work. So he tried his original password and didn't work. So he contacted the site owner and he tried getting in the "Edit Admins" section of his site and it came up with a blank white page. So he contacted me to take a look and I tried setting up the error reporting to see if there was any errors that were going on. The error reports show nothing wrong.

So I tried uploading all new clean fresh files and again, nothing. If anyone has any ideas on what might be the problem would be good. I have exhausted all idea's that I can come up with.

I did do a search on these forums to see if it was a known problem or if there were issues like this in the past, but I didn't see anything.

Side note: The site owner and I can still login with no problems. That also seems to be the only blank page issue we have. He is also running RN V2.20.01. And the issue page is /admin.php?op=mod_authors

It's possible he isn't allowed to use Edit Admins unless he is the God admin

I have been in the GOD admin. Nobody can add or remove admins. Its just a blank white page as if it doesn't exist.

Since all the file are clean fresh file, I am wondering, could it be something in the DB?

Ok, still doing it even with the latest RN file. Take a look at this thread:
[ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Try uploading with binary instead of ascii if your target server is linux.

There just shouldn't be any reason for this to not work.

Try the database logging that is set up in rnconfig. With a white screen it sure sounds to me like you are getting a db error in the background.

Well, within my 2.20.01 system, the query count is between 70 - 80 queries. What is odd, in my test system, the very next set of queries after the last bit of session handling, drops into the checks for banners. I am pretty sure this is in my themeheader. Therefore, I suspect that you might not even be getting through all of mainfile.php.

You may want to try re-uploading, in a similar fashion, both admin.php and mainfile.php. Had you modified any of these two files at all?

Yes, when it first started, I re-uploaded fresh files of RN and that didn't work. As for modifying them, no, I just used stock files on his site.

Well I uploaded fresh files of what you suggested in Binary, and still not working.

As M. said, something is stopping you short. If your php programs are all in synch with the distribution then the main thing remaining is your table structures. Problem is, if you have a table structure issue then you should be seeing a SQL error of some sort in the dblog.

Reading back to the start of the thread, I think we need to confirm some things. The only error you are seeing is when you try to get into the edit admins screen? If you load a home page instead it completes? If that's so you should, as M. said, be seeing a lot more queries in your dblog. You could try setting db error reporting to errors only in rnconfig as that will keep the superfluous stuff out. Turn it on on a separate screen right before you try to get into edit admins on a second screen. Then see if anything shows in dblog.

Okay, I reset the rnconfig to errors only, also cleaned out the dblog so it was fresh. I loaded up the main page, (index page). Thats where I started the logging. I clicked the button to go into the ACP, and then I clicked the edit admins. Then I left it on that page and went back into the FTP and pulled the dblog.

This is what I got out of it.

Everything else on the site works just fine. I haven't seen any other problems then this one that we are discussing. As for when this error started happening. I have no idea, it was fine that I know of just till a few days ago. I used it about a week ago and worked fine. Was able to add a new admin, but then that admin changed his password in the User options, that's when he noticed he couldn't log into admin and contacted the site owner and in turn he contacted me.

Other then what I have stated in this post and the others, there is nothing else I can say that might have caused these problems for I haven't been working on his site for a few months.

First, if you set dblogging to 1 instead of 2 in rnconfig you should only get errors listed ... which saves us from having to pick a needle out a haystack.

Second you have two errors that I see:

Code:
September 2, 2008, 9:04 am 1064 : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''God' AND radminsuper = '1'' at line 1

SQL was: SELECT aid FROM nuke_authors WHERE aid = '**EDITED**' AND name IS NOT 'God' AND radminsuper = '1'

and,

Code:
September 2, 2008, 9:04 am 1054 : Unknown column 'type' in 'where clause'

SQL was: SELECT * FROM nuke_banner WHERE type='0' AND active='1'
 remote addr: 60.188.160.222
September 2, 2008, 9:04 am SQL was: SELECT bid, imageurl, clickurl, alttext FROM nuke_banner WHERE type='0' AND active='1' LIMIT 0,1

If you look in the INSTALLATION/sql directory of your distribution you will find the "official" definitions of the banners and authors table. I'd print those two out and go into PHPmyadmin and make sure that my tables matched exactly in structure. Alternatively you can run a tool like MYSQLdiff which is mentioned in many threads here. Or post the table definitions here I suppose. I believe the banners table was changed in a recent RN release and you may have missed the upgrade sql.

Good catch fkelly! I was wondering yesterday if maybe these tables needed a repair done. I would try that too using phpMyAdmin.

Sorry about that, that was my mistake.

I ended up comparing the database tables with the rn_core.sql files I found in the /INSTALLATION/sql/ folder.

Both look fine, You can even take a look, but every thing seems to be in order.

RN-Core:
Code:
CREATE TABLE $prefix.`_banner` (

`bid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`cid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`name` varchar(50) NOT NULL default '',
`imptotal` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`impmade` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`clicks` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`imageurl` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`clickurl` varchar(200) NOT NULL default '',
`alttext` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
`date` datetime default NULL,
`dateend` datetime default NULL,
`position` int(10) NOT NULL default '0',
`active` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '1',
`ad_class` varchar(5) NOT NULL default '',
`ad_code` text NOT NULL,
`ad_width` int(4) default '0',
`ad_height` int(4) default '0',
PRIMARY KEY  (`bid`),
KEY `bid` (`bid`),
KEY `cid` (`cid`)) TYPE=MyISAM AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ;

Ours:
Code:
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `nuke_banner` (

  `bid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
  `cid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
  `name` varchar(50) NOT NULL default '',
  `imptotal` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
  `impmade` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
  `clicks` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
  `imageurl` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
  `clickurl` varchar(200) NOT NULL default '',
  `alttext` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
  `date` datetime default NULL,
  `dateend` datetime default NULL,
  `position` int(10) NOT NULL default '0',
  `active` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '1',
  `ad_class` varchar(5) NOT NULL default '',
  `ad_code` text NOT NULL,
  `ad_width` int(4) default '0',
  `ad_height` int(4) default '0',
  PRIMARY KEY  (`bid`),
  KEY `bid` (`bid`),
  KEY `cid` (`cid`)) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ;

That was the Banners there, this is the authors here.

RN-Core:
Code:
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS $prefix.`_authors` (

`aid` varchar(25) NOT NULL default '',
`name` varchar(50) default NULL,
url` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
`email` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
`pwd` varchar(40) default NULL, `counter`
int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`radminsuper` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '1',
`admlanguage` varchar(30) NOT NULL default '',
PRIMARY KEY  (`aid`) ) TYPE=MyISAM;

Ours:
Code:
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `nuke_authors` (

  `aid` varchar(25) NOT NULL default '',
  `name` varchar(50) default NULL,
  `url` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
  `email` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
  `pwd` varchar(40) default NULL,
  `counter` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
  `radminsuper` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '1',
  `admlanguage` varchar(30) NOT NULL default '',
  PRIMARY KEY  (`aid`)) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;

So overall, I am not sure where those errors are coming from as everything seems fine. I didn't display the dumps for the nuke Authors for security reasons. I also had no dumps for the "Banners table". Wasn't sure if there should be any.

See my previous note. Please try and do a Repair on these two tables.

Tried MySQLDiff and have an error with that on the index page.

Quote:
The configured Path for Session files () is not writeable!

But you guys are saying that the table are wrong. I just dropped the tables and recreated them using the core files and dropped in the information I got from the nuke authors and still a no go.

Code:

SQL was: SELECT aid FROM nuke_authors WHERE aid = '**EDITED**' AND name IS NOT 'God' AND radminsuper = '1'

Is that right? Shouldn't it be "name != 'God'" ???? That isn't valid SQL. You can't say "IS NOT 'GOD'".

For this one:

Just like it says, there is no 'type' column in banners, at least going by what you posted. What file is generating those SQL statements?

I don't know what I did, but I got it working. I manually did the nuke tables for banners and for authors, and it worked. The SQL dropping was not doing it or doing something wrong.

As for why this happened, I don't know. For that banner error to come up, I went into the ACP to generate that error.

I don't get it. There is no type field in nuke_banners. You posted identical tables. What did you manually do exactly?

It looks like you are using old code or something. What theme are you using?
