If I paste a really long table ... say 10 columns and 50 rows to a Content page, when I view the page half the table is missing. Is this due to a limit for page size, as in the number of characters allowed?

It's an xls spreadsheet, I'm copying it from Excel into Front Page which strips some of the spagetti, but not all of it, and then copying that source into the Content Page editor. The style definitions are just stupidly long and not necessary, but I haven't found a way to strip them very easily.

Does that make sense?

Thanks again for your guidance.

Yes, there is a limit and you will notice a warning in your database.
I believe you can change this easily in the database. I have one very long content page and change the content there also only direct in the database. Such long sites are not very clever and in my opinion not user friendly.
Btw: I don´t use an editor so I don´t know his behavior.

Frontpage is notorious for adding extra style information as well as other garbage - sorry!
As Susann mentioned there is a limit to the number of characters allowed but I would need to look up the table to give you an exact idea of what that might be.

ya ... what a mess. ;/ Some page authors come up with the craziest of ideas. And MS must believe we all have unlimited storage and bandwidth!

Each <td> must have had close to 200 characters in the style def. After I stripped out all the xls stuff, the leftover style def's were eliminated in my php editor and now the table fits just fine.

After I fixed that one, I sent a heads up to other authors. But no doubt this scenario will happen again.
