Ok i am not sure where to place this so i apologise if i posted wrong

I am using raven nuke, but when i create a new block and click submit it does nothing, at first it appears to look like it has done it, but when i go to where the block should be it hasnt created it. I am having to update a lot through the mysql rather that the admin section, can anyone give me any advice?

How are you creating a new block? Do you have the appropriate block files in the /blocks directory? If you are unfamiliar with this process take a look at several of the files that are in your /blocks directory. To create a new block you need something like them and then you can go into blocks administration in the ACP and create the block. Nothing in the blocks directory = no new block.

yep I have created many before this is the first time since i upgraded my raven nuke. The block files are there and I am creating them from the ACP exactly the same way I have done before.

Its the same with the welcome message on the front of the site, I cant update by just editing it like i used to, i am having to do it in the php admin to edit it.

It sounds to me like you are getting a mysql error behind the scenes. Did you run the rn_nsngroups.sql step in the installation? It alters the tables: blocks, message and modules. Take a look at that file in your installation directory and then in phpmyadmin look at those tables. I'd bet you are missing the fields it adds and as I say generating a SQL error when you try to update. We'll have an optional SQL error log in 2.20 that will make finding these things easier.

Turn on error reporting in your config.php and also check your server error logs.

99% certain NSN groups were not added. Might also need to look at resendemail step too. Did you upgrade to the latest 2.10.01 version? If so, these steps were/are discussed within the HowToInstall manual on the "Upgrading" page...
