automatic thumbnails?

i'm having trouble describing what i'm looking for, so bare with me lol

is there a way that i can upload pictures to a directory on my server, and then somehow automatically create a thumbnail and display it on a webpage? i would like the thumbnail to be linked to the fullsize image. basically, im trying to avoid having to manually resize my images and manually create all the coding in the webpages to display the images.

i occasionally do automotive photography for auto shows, and it would be nice to avoid hours of work to display my photos on a webpage. i sometimes have hundreds of photos, so im looking for an easier way to do this.

btw, this is not related to phpnuke (if that even matters).

You might want to consider the Gallery tool from Menalto. It is one of the best that is built on PHP anyways.

There are several scripts that do this. Coppermine Photo Gallery and Gallery come to mind - both of which have standalone and Nuke versions. You can find more here.
