We use the latest rnuke, with NukeSentinel(tm) 2.4.2pl5. Ive been getting alot of random usernames (im guessing harvesters) on our site lately, and wanted to do whatever I can to get rid of it.

After surfing nukescripts site for a while, i see like 5000 upgrades, and IP2Country downloads...and im confused as to what exactly i need at this point.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

newest version is 2.5.05, you will need the update files since then or just reinstall the newest version, as far as IP2Country get the version with the most current date.

this is from Raven
Quote:

There is no direct route but it can be done with thee 2 upgrade packages.

NukeSentinel(tm) 2.4.2x to 2.5.0
NukeSentinel(tm) 2.5.00 70-79 Upgrade

NukeSentinel(tm) 2.5.0 to 2.5.02
NukeSentinel(tm) 2.5.05 70-80 Upgrade

from this thread [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]
If you go to the thread Raven has links to the files

those two file will upgrade you. I would recomend dropping all the data in the IP2Country table and just reimport it all

Get the IP2Country data files and load all them to the import folder
Use Sentinel's Import function to import them

Doing that now. Thank you.

I also noticed that i didnt do any of the EDITS FOR CORE FILES...would these need to be done for it to function correctly (seems to be working fine now).

So I need to go down the list, and click them all? Or is there a faster way.......the clicking in my browser from the "refeshing" is driving me mad lol.

The edits for core files don't work by "clicking". You need to use an editor to edit the PHP nuke core files IF YOU ARE GOING to apply them. BUT DON'T. If things are working fine based on the above thread I'd leave them alone. RN 2.10 will give you a set of core files that are consistent with Sentinel 2.5.05. You won't have to edit anything, at least until Sentinel 2.5.06.

Looking back at your original post, you are going to get harvesters no matter what. You may get an incremental improvement with successive versions of Sentinel but nothing is going to stop it. So keep reasonably current with the updates but don't think that anything is going to make this problem go away.

10-4. so does this mean i have to click each country to import the ip2country data?

With the newest version of Sentinel if you click on the first country in the list it will go through and update them all, it will take awhile and will kep refreshing but it will go through and do them all, so no you do not need to click on each of them.

I did that, and it did do a bit of refreshing so im guessing it worked, but im noticing other things. When i ran the update, it didnt give me an option to update from 2.5.00 to 2.5.5, only 2.5.01, 2.5.02 and so on. I tried doing them one at a time, and started getting errors about it not being able to alter tables. I also checked my phpmyadmin and noticed some of the tables arent even there.....like the ip2country, and a few other ones.

How can I completely uninstall sentinel and reinstall 2.5.5 from scratch without messing up the rest of my site.

I also am noticing that my vWar news block at the top of the site isnt working anymore......but just noticed it so im not sure if it has anything to do with what i was trying in sentinel. . .

Also, quick retard question. Will adding the security code feature to our registration help with this harvester issue? And how do you do that in nuke sentinel?

Oh ya, i posted this in the other forum by accident, but i just dropped the tables, and reinstalled fresh. All seems to be working correctly now, except the one block issue posted above.

In reference to these random usernames i keep seeing, how can I get their IPs and start adding them to sentinal manually.....

Sentinel will not protect you from the security holes in vwar - just so you know.

I understand that, but i have not had any issues so far. Is there anything I can do to help secure my vWar?

Does the new sentinel block ob_get_contents somehow? Thats the only reason I can think of that would cause my block to stop working, its a very basic block.

Im still getting all kinds of crazy sign ups in our join us application and everything....

If I enable the security code feature, will this help eliminate this?? If so, how would I enable it?

I believe I remember reading that some now have the capabilities of getting around the entering the security code box. It can't hurt to enable it...Smile Do so by going to your config.php file and find this: $gfx_chk = 0; and set the 0 to 7. That will require the code to be entered even by admins to proceed.

I spoke with my host and they say nothing has changed on there end. What can be causing that block to stop working. . .
