I searched for an answer but almost an hour of reading I gave up.

I created a group 'Moderators' assigned them moderator status and all was well. After repeated instructions not to delete posts (ignored), I deleted the group. The users who were formerly moderators still show up green at the bottom of the forums.

Where else can I look to make these users normal, not moderator.

Do I need to edit db?

Thanks

Probably, you will need to edit the DB. It's probably a forum-level table, though I'm not sure which off the top of my head.

try / check this in your DB

check your _users table and find the user name that was moderator and make sure the "user level" is set to 1 for normal user 2 for moderator 3 for admin

i believe this is what your looking for

Actually for phpNuke, I believe
1 - normal user
2 - admin
3 - moderator

Oh, that makes sense. You remove the moderator from the forum, but not from the user.

So are you saying that they are no longer moderators, but only show up as moderators because deleting moderators does not change the user level back to 1?
