Hello, If there are answers in Raven to the subject that I am about to ask, please guide me to the topic(s). I might not be typing the right search string.

My user database on one of my sites has over 3,500 users and I just cannot mail them all because of time-out and I have been searching for the cur and cannot find it.

From the time my list on any nuke site gets around 2000 members I am unable to send out mass email whether I try from nukebb or from nuke and I have be battling with this for a very, very longtime.

But now I need to start mailing my users especially from my raven76 site which has 3,640 registered users.

I have access to my php.ini so if its from there that I have to look, what should I be doing. I state this because if I remember when I first starting seeking help about two years ago, the talk of php.ini came up but I am unable to find any notes or from which phpnuke forum I first delt with this subject.

I did not have access to my php.ini at that time since I was on share hosting.

Any help will be welcome

Thanks

Are you using HTML Newsletter 01.03.01 [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

I have about the same amount of members and I do not have any problems.

Just a thought...

There might be some way to "Batch" them like Sentiental does for the IP to Country .....?

If you are on a shared hosting server you might want to contact them and see if there is an email limit. I know on Ipowerweb the limit is so small that it is useless to try to send out mass email. I wrote a program to create bcc's from the users table email addresses and then I just copy and paste that into the bcc field of an email on a gmail account. Gmail has a single email address limit of 500 so you can break your bcc's into 500 address blocks and send it that way. It is not just Ipowerweb with the limits either, my Roadrunner account that I use for personal email will only allow 100 addresses in a single email.

Many Thanks for this suggestion:

Where is that line? Would it be in my php.ini?

I missed that part Leo. So, you are way ahead of me and my Ipowerweb server. Smile

Well, aren't you the lucky one! Wish I was in your shoes (with having full control over your server configuration). Anyways, check the parameter Timeout in your Apache httpd.conf file. It is usually defaulted to 300 seconds. Bump that up to what you need for the process to not be killed.

Also, in your php.ini file, make sure parameter max_execution_time matches that of your Apache Timeout, or a few seconds less (so that PHP timeout is hit first).

Hi montego, will check those.

Well, since I have access to root I can change or add whatever that I wish since I remain in-line with requlations. When I get stock, hahah-- just trun to administration for help. (However, I know my limitations in this business so I only touch where I can understand). Also, If I need something added and can't do it myself, well I guess that I will have to enter into my empty pocket.....haha

I just loaded your Newsletter on one of my domains and tested works fine. Should I see a finish page after sending?

I ony have about 300 users on this domain and after awhile I just see the activity on the status bar at the bottom of the browser stop not sure if this was a complete sending because the input details page just remained open.

No, sounds like it timed out. Not sure if it will show anything in your error logs? Probably. Unfortunately, until I can get the time to change the module to send in batches and page through them, it does not work so well with large numbers of users.
