Being the "not so alert" webadmin, I just discovered today that I have a bank of about 14 registration attempts in my temp table. All these attempts have come since I downgraded my database from 7.8 to 7.6 and switched to RN 2.02.02. I have the latest Nuke sentinel 2.5.1.

MySQL is version 4.0.23

One guy emailed me and said he got a 404 error.

I know that I am going to have to delete these attempts but I would like to discover why registration activations have not worked since the switch to RN.

Any ideas?

I do have this news article posted on my site..."from back in the 7.8 days"...don't know if it still applies":

Code:
The registration process involves selecting a username, password, and e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail message with an activation link. You must visit that link to complete registration. Some common problems include not receiving the e-mail message or the activation link not working. Here are some tips that should work: 1) When selecting a username, use only alphanumeric characters with NO SPACES & no funny characters. Clan Tags are allowed { } or [ ]. 2) Be careful that you enter your e-mail address correctly and make sure your e-mail account is working normal. 3) Before registering, be sure cookies are enable in your web browser. For I.E. Go to: (Tools---Internet Options---Privacy---Advanced) Make sure First & Third party cookies are allowed. If cookies are not allowed, you will not receive the activation e-mail. 4) If the link does not work, copy the entire link to a fresh web browser window. Sometimes, the link does not work when clicked inside the message because the link is so long that it is split into separate lines in your message window. (i.e. it is treated as 2 separate links in your email program) 5) If you still have trouble. Send the webmaster an e-mail message: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! I enabled certain clan tag characters for users. But some of the rejections are just alphabetic usernames.

I would suggest testing this yourself .... if you have a second email account, like say a gmail or hotmail type one, just register yourself under a different name and see if you get an email and if you respond to it what happens. It's possible that those 14 could have registered but not responded to the activation email and you did mention that one person got a 404 so he responded but maybe he split the url up over lines as your news article suggests is possible. If you register a second id for yourself you can better "quality control" the process to determine whether it is a system or user error.

Thanks bro....I discovered my site path was incorrect. When I changed over to RN, I also moved the site to a new location. Everything's Cool now.

If your site path has been changed in admin -> preferences then you better go check admin ->forums ->configuration as well Smile

The forums config asks for the site path relative to the domain. I am assuming that means relative to the nuke root. Therefore, my forums site path has always been this:

/modules/Forums/

My site is in a subfolder on my domain. When I switched, I changed subfolders. Is the forum site path supposed to be like this:
