Hi guys,

I have a phpnuke 7.6 installation just a standard download from phpnuke.org. It is a populated website with merged BBtoNuke so I don't particularly fancy a reinstall. There are no hacks or mods.

I want to apply the correct security fixes but at the same time I want to install: NukeSentinel and ensure that it works.

What patches do I need in order to achieve both these things?

Been looking at the patch numbers for so long now I am completely confused.

Welcome. I know you don't want to reinstall, but installing RavenNuke might be easier than integrating a patch and installing NukeSentinel (you really need both to protect your site).

If you still want to go the patch route, use at least 3.1. There are multiple 3.2 versions (3.2b and 3.2e come to mind), and there were some issues with some of them. RavenNuke has many of the 3.2 patches integrated.

Hiya Kguske,

Thanks for the reply. What i am worried about is how easy will it be to transfer my .sql data to RavenNuke? As I am guessing some of the tables have been altered so therefore won't match?

Does RavenNuke also have the intergrated forums as well?

There are a number of threads on the data migration issue. Check:

or

Basically you just need to run a table comparison and make some minor adjustments to table structures and then you can dump and import your data. It does take some caution and care but then you won't be chasing a seemingly endless series of patches. And when new versions of Ravennuke come out you'll have an easy upgrade path. Probably worth mentioning also that there are a number of fixes in Ravennuke that you won't find in any patch series.

Yes, Forums are integrated in the Ravennuke distribution and you should be able to dump and restore your current Forum data, again after verifying the table structures.

Sorry to jump in like this, and good luck.

Hi guys.

Thanks once again for the helpful responses! The conversion process looks mighty complicated! I don't think I am that well versed to achieve the result myself.

I think I will transfer the site from phpnuke 7.6 standard to the Ravennuke package.

Would either of you two chaps do the .sql conversation for me? 40 bucks in it sent by paypal for you.

If you have no other modules etc added to your site which has altered the core table structure it shouldnt be a problem. All you would need to do is run the Groups' sql and the one for Sentinel and the IP2C (IP to Country) data.

As you are using nuke 7.6 already and are only using the Sommaire add-on, the easiest way for you to achieve your goal is to;
1. Create a duplicate database with a new name
2. Alter config.php to reflect the new database name
3. Run the installSQL.php and hit all the buttons EXCEPT the first one - you don't need the first option as you already have the tables and data.

I know you have your new site installed in a new sub-directory so you will need to go into your DB and edit the paths in nuke_config and forums_config so the new directory is added.
