Not sure if this is the right place to post this but, does anybody know if there is a scrolling block that functions like the scrolling forums block (orginal not collapsing) that will show when a post is new instead of just showing the last 15 or 20 posts or is it possible to edit the code to allow this and is it also possible to have more then one scrolling block but have each block read from a different category of the forum. To clarify this here is what I am doing, I am doing a project for my job to keep track of materials coming into our warehouse for projects. when it's received the warehouse personnel will post in a category in the forum that the material is in so our technicians can look at monitors throught our office and see if their material is staged without having to tie up the warehouse staff to look it up. I would like the scroller to show when an item entered is new within 24 hours after that not display a "new" icon. (I know I'm asking alot). Then I would like to have a second scroller for items that have come back from repair that reads from a second category to display only repairs, also with the "new" icon as well. Is this just a pipe dream or is there something like this available or can someone help me with editing the code of the current scroller to do this? Any help is much appreciated. this link will show you something of what I want [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] if you scroll to the bottom you will see a block on the right that has the newest links with the flashing new icon. that's exactly what I want but I want it only to flash when the post is new up to 24 hours after that I want the new icon to not display.

Definitely a custom block. You would need to edit the code to allow that. You could also either add the logic in the block to display multiple categories, or use different blocks for the different categories.

at this point i would be happy with just having a scrolling block that can read from one specific category within the forums. I can't believe nobody has a scrolling block that does this yet.

I actually found a block that does what I want as far as allowing you to choose a single category instead of the last posting from all categories. only problem was it didn't scroll, so I added the marquee code to it and had to mess with it a bit to get it to work but after about 3 hours of hit and miss I finally got it to work EXACTLY how I wanted. crazy thing about this is it's only 23 lines of script. Can't believe nobody did this already. Now I just need to come up with a script to somewhat time how long the post has been displayed in the scroller and after 24 hours replace an animated gif with a non animated image. I'm sure this can't be too hard I just don't know enough about php to set up a timer. Could someone give me some pointers please?
