Modify a full-width theme to fixed width

I'm helping out a friend with his phpnuke website; he does design, and I do the coding/configuration. We're currently using the theme fiblack3d. Using the fiblack3d theme as a basis or starting point, his design looks like:

The major changes that I need help or guidance on are:
1) how do I change the theme from being full-width to fixed width? Is it as simple as modifying the theme header to something like

2) How do I add the two side images?

i thought i give you something to start with...
yes its that easy....
but keep in mind that a fixed width works great on screens with the same settings but users that still use 800 width get a huge scrollbar..

as for the image left and right ,these are put inside of the <td> of the main table...
