NO! I don't mean any disrespect but I need to make this clear. While I have had my issues with NC and Paul in particular, it has never been my desire to be preferred over NC or any other site. My desire has been to be a part of the many good support sites and to not boast. I feel badly for the potential loss of a support site that has many good qualities. I am in strong disagreement with the leadership and the direction that they have taken and that is one of the main reasons that I chose to leave.

But you do raise a good point. Traditionaly FB never cared to listen to anyone and continues to put out buggy software. NC, at least, along with Chatserv, helped to keep the bad code from running amok. I know that Chat will continue to submit his security patches to the community whether or not FB does. And my site, as well as many other good support sites, will remain. And, it well could be that NC will just continue on under new or even present ownership. Time will soon tell.

This is a joke, his other site takes off so F*** everyone in phpnuke. He shows his true colors off now. I want money for nukecops.com

Everyone knows it was the community that makes the site success full. Most of the time it was people in the community answering the questions of newbie not the support staff.

So what is he going to ask for the site anyways, how much money?

The person who buys it better have a dedicated server to run it, I have 2 gaming sites and several hosted sites and it runs 500-700 gig a month and a dedicated server cost $$$

According to one of the admin it "should" be back up tonight.

Uhg! Now once it does come back up the people will be downloading in droves for fear of the files being gone.

Most of the actively developed apps are available at the authors site. Mikems ported themes may be another issue dunno about those. NC hasn't actively distributed much lately except the cvs which was so behind it wasn't worth messing around with.

The real potential loss is the huge archive of forum topics. Tips, hacks debugging info ect...

Also (I haven't tested it but looks great). This is a paypal solution but its a pretty cool idea.

Computer Cops has been down off and on today. I was there earlier after someone emailed me about the notice up on Nuke Cops. Part of the article on the front page said:

"*I'm basically putting out a notice to everyone, that unless I can get some sort of serious funding to continue operating then these may be the final days of the sites being in operation. *The bad guys are hitting us the only way they can... in the wallet. It'd break my heart to see this place go away because growth has gone far beyond the funding at hand."

I hope it won't come to Nuke Cops being closed. As someone posted elsewhere, the forums are a very valuable source of information. I would hate to lose that.

Umm to be quite honest.. I dont think its coming back under Paul's ownership.

As you might have figured out by now. He dosent care about that site much. He has to keep his precious CCSP up..

When he was havin server load issues a while ago he made a script that if server load at computer cops reached so much then it would shut down nukecops.

I just want to clear this up for everyone here.

This is not about Paul choosing CCSP over NC or shunning the nuke community.

There are many factors that Paul has taken into consideration in selling NC.

I don't want to get into it yet.. but in time I will let you all know what happened and what caused this seemingly unpopular meaure on Paul's part.

If I had the know how and the funds to do it.. I would buy out NC.. but I don't.. right now.

My thoughts go in a different direction. What if Paul saw the handwriting on the wall about FB's future plans, which don't include him? It would be wise to sell when you still have some value. I believe FB is heading for a completely commercial product, including support.

This is what I was worried about and posted my concerns several times on NC.

As supports sites such as nukemods & phphuke.org closed and support became more and more concentrated on NC (and remember this is what NC wanted!), I began to become increasingly uneasy that if Paul decided to give up computers and take up knitting, the main base nuke support would be lost and that is what has come to pass (well, not the knitting, I guess).

And for what should be the showpiece for nuke, phpnuke.org, what a mishmash it is. The worst theme I have seen on a nuke site, and all those ruddy ads (one of which today was definitely not G-rated).

And as someone said above, in general NC belongs to the members because they are the ones who have create the support database. I am not saying that we have a financial interest but we sure have the right to criticise Paul over his sulky, spoilt little boy behaviour.

Nature abhors a vacuum so I do not think it will be long before there is plenty of nuke support again and NC will be nothing but a sour memory. Someone offered a dollar for it on a forum and perhaps that is all it is worth now.

I just went to phpnuke.org and was reading a few of the comments posted there regarding this. I have to say I was impressed by the tone of the overall comments. Glad to see some of the heavy hitters so to speak weigh in with there support. There appears to be a lot of unity and support for the abandonment of NC and moving on with a new hub for the benefit of all. How ever this plays out there is sure to be an increase of traffic at the regional and specialty sites. Lets hope it doesn't take long for everything to fall into place. People are seeing there is life after NC but no doubt it will be some time before there is another central clearing house of information that is rival to phpnuke.org itself as NC was in terms of support, files, traffic and SE placement. One of the greatest attributes NC had/has is you could get most articles published and be certain to get SE hits back to your site.
