PHP vs. Java – Which One Is the Better Web Language?
papamike writes "Traditionally, it seems like Java is the web language of choice for corporations, and PHP has been the web language of choice for people who own their own websites (i.e. small scale websites). It also seems like both of these groups will swear by anything that their language, whether it be PHP or Java, is the supreme language of the universe..... Would Dropping Internet Explorer v6.x Support Affect You or Your Business?
Internet Explorer (Browser) has never been CSS standards compliant and has always cause heartache for developers. Version 6.x is one of the worst and, frankly, we (the RavenNuke(tm)), have grown tired of trying to support the very much out dated and antiquated browser! Please take part in our Survey so that we can get a feel for the potential impact of dropping support for IE6.x browser. Additionally, there is a forum thread that you might want to participate in: CSS 3.0 is going to be exciting!
Note:Don't forget to vote in the Survey!

November Challenge!
montego writes "Come on folks, $47.24 in donations is absolutely crazy for the amount of help you can get on this site! It takes money to run a site like this and the last I checked, there still are no money trees been invented LOL.
I cannot stand by and watch this happen. I personally will match ALL donations from now until November 29th (end of your day) up to a total of $50 (total new donations - I have not found that money tree either - lol).
Come on! Anyone can donate a few dollars.

My opinion of the Nuke Community
pcnuke writes "My opinion of the Nuke Community(www.pcnuke.com):
Date: 05.14.06
One thing the team at PCN Systems has found out working with the PHP-Nuke portal system (in our short time within the community) is that it will never be up to date & can have many security issues. While members & staff of this website enjoy using phpnuke and variations of the program. Part of the fun of it is messing with it, and converting sections of it they way you want it to be. They main thing you must remember is that its a free program and is Open Source, so you can distribute it, and change it, and any addons created for it, anyway you would like. Many people will use it as BASIS to develop a new FORK from, converting areas of the code they way they choose. We want everyone here at www.pcnuke.com to know that versions found on our website are not FORKS, they are truly php-nuke based at heart, and any addon created for phpnuke will always work with all systems found on this website.
The main reason for the programs flaws are caused from its developer and bad coding he releases to the public. While the overall idea of the system is great and I mean no dis-respect to the developer of PHP-Nuke (FB) www.phpnuke.org , the program could be made better by its dev... by rechecking its operations in a couple of browsers, prior to releasing it to the public. Remember Php-Nuke is also a fork created from a previous open source poratl system."

Policy Statement From Raven Concerning Public Complaints About Other People
Policy Statement From Raven Concerning Public Complaints About Other People
Folks, I will be as nice as I care to be with this, so please don't press it. This site is not run with First Amendment Rights. You do NOT have freedom of speech to say what you want about anything you want. I have removed 2 recent threads conerning another member's site and subscription practices. If you have a beef with someone, then handle it offline with them. There is absolutely no reason to go public with your beef, right at the beginning, unless you are looking to stack up support in your corner, in 99% of the cases.
Rather than beat around the bush, let me sum it up according to Raven's World. According to the GPL license, GPL software is free. However, GPL clearly allows for people, whether the author or not, to charge a reasonable amount for access to the media (FB is well known for this). Plain and simple. In addition, ANY AND ALL software written to be used by a GPL application MUST BE AND IS GPL regardless of how you package it. So changing your license to something else and then making it for phpNuke automatically changes your license to GPL.
So, this is not a public forum. Settle it on your own, between the two of you, the way that men ought to do. If, however, you have a valid bitch and have tried to settle it off line and are not able to, contact me in PRIVATE and ask my opinion. Do not assume that I or others will agree with either of you. Please, let this be the end of these matters.
Note:Addendum: I will add that if someone is posting news about other people's software and is not also including the author's name and author's site in the article, then that would be wrong. it must always be evident as to where the software actually originates.

Why You Should NOT Use PHP-Nuke Versions 7.7 or 7.8 Explained
64bitguy writes "In an effort to help Nuke users understand important issues regarding Nuke Versions 7.7 and 7.8, I have written an article that explains Why You Should NOT Use PHP-Nuke Versions 7.7 or 7.8
This article covers some of the technical and physical reasons why these two versions of Nuke mark a horrible step backwards in design evolution while demonstrating examples of vulnerabilities and lost features. I urge users that might have already employed Nuke 7.7 or 7.8 (or those considering it) to read this information so that they may make an informed decision and understand the major problems with these two latest versions."
Note:(From Raven) This is a very well written article and is a MUST read for all contemplating using phpnuke v7.7 or v7.8 and especially for those who already are using it.

New kind of nuke development.
hitwalker writes "Its pretty sad to read that a lot of people can end up with problems if they use phpnuke 7.7
So the editor was a bad idea huh ....
I always had my opinion about the nuke development.
It keeps on going and going...
But is that so good?
Every time Francisco Burzi releases a version people have to work overtime to make it safe where Francisco Burzi creates security leaks.
Usualy we upgrade in nukeland but thanks to Francisco Burzi we now have downgraders...a new type of development."

Vote on your favorite/best version of phpNuke!
I am trying to figure out what version to bundle next. Rage has raised some questions as whether or not I should release a v6.9 bundle with all the latest fixes and some add-ons. I'd like to hear from you! No comments are available for this News item, but I am allowing comments in the Poll.

Is this needed/desired here?
There many people who have sent donations in to this site and I truly thank each and every one of you :)! I try to always acknowledge every one. I have often wondered if you would like to have public recognition in one way or another. Maybe a scrolling list of user names? Or possibly a special rank? I would like to get your feedback on this so I am starting a thread for this HERE and have attached a poll to it. Please take the time to respond as I really do need to know this. Thanks!
