I find this interesting. As I was looking into some commercial software, this appeared on their site. This is a list of email domains that they will NOT accept.

yes, this is a trend. I'm seeing the same thing at other commercial companies. I know also that some game leagues/ladders are in discussions to do the same.

Why?
Lots of spam maybe.
Its easier to be anonymous, harder to find the real name behind the email-adress.

well it could have been my site were talking about here....lol,yeah ive been doing this for a long time...
ive blocked a bunch of "email providers" so those accounts cannot be used.
The reason is simple...more then a year ago when i started to check the members email addresses a lot of them bounced and was reason enough for me to exclude them for further use.
But this no big secret, more people have asked for my list but difference is that i show it and other dont.

Another trend that effects us all is the blocking of private domains ie all of our domains! Blocking email not originating from an ISP provider greatly reduces spam but can create big problems for us little guys out here.

well i can understand that but im talking about members signing up using malicious providers of email accounts.
the only goal is to signup using that account but we find out later it doesnt excist anymore.

I'm blocking registration abilities from over 1000 different free email providers.

This list just scratches the surface (to say the least).

I have some pretty basic rules that simply say either give me your ISP email address, your Hosted domain email address or your government email address. Freemail email addresses have zero accountability and I think in today's World, I need just a little of that.
