Not so much of an issue... but a question really. I want to use PhPbb3 for my forums, and have noticed that the latest RN version still uses bb2. How difficult would it be for someone with not a whole lot of experience, to set up an initial forum only style website, then add RavenNuke later?
Am I looking at any compatibility issues?
I like the feel of the new bb forums... and it suits my website better at this point. |

Very difficult with very little experience.
We are waiting a bit for phpBB3 to stabilize. But, I am sure others are already jumping on the "porting to nuke" bandwagon. |

Yeah, I've never been a fan of Nuke after learning about Ravens version here. I'm just very keen on the features that PhPbb3 has. It's SO much easier to set up and get usergroups going. Lots of features I can't believe they left out.
Thanks for the reply though. |

A lot of the people who work on Ravennuke realize the desirability of moving to PHPBB3 eventually. But it needs to be done right. And that's going to take some time, in my opinion at least.
I wasn't there at the creation but looking at the situation retrospectively it appears to me that the port of PHPBB2 to Nuke initially created a lot of unnecessary and even undesirable interdependencies in the code. That may have been slightly more "user friendly" from a short term perspective but it made upgrading versions of PHPBB much more difficult, as we are seeing now. And it probably pissed off the PHPBB developers who were facing questions from Nukers about "how come this or that doesn't work" when from their point of view their code had been bastardized. Again that's just inference ... I wasn't there.
So please be patient. If you want to run standalone PHPBB3 go ahead. If someone releases a port or interface take your chances. If you are a skilled developer post your ideas here and I'm sure Raven will be scrutinizing them closely. |

So with this bridge I can have a phpBB3 forum in RavenNuke instead of the old phpBB2? That would be great. |
