i've nothing against turks, except for those that have defaced my websites. i think all my nuke sites are now patched but i think if i were to ban as many ip addresses of "countries with a known-history of nuke-defacement" (cknd?), that it would feel like some kind of life assurance for any site should the script kiddies find any more holes. |

There is no such thing as banning countries unless you also ban all proxy and passthru servers.
My example was the best yet to protect you from all countries and proxy servers.
Ban a country, still hacking they do.
Fix your PHP, happy browsing you do.
As an example i'm willing to provide you my IP thru PM for banning pleasures, and you will notice that i can still access your website. Even from your own country/region. |

yes dj we know,there are many ways to visit sites that have you banned...
i have a nice program for that,it allows me to choose any ip from a bunch of countries...
i dont realy know how far it all will work if forwarding isnt allowed...
but my point to this is with banning a country ,needed or not.....is a good start...
i proved that with my sites,my errors,my non-attacks...so theres absolutely no doubts about that...banning countries helps... |

nobody can cover all attacks by banning ip addresses of countries and proxies, but if it reduces the number of attacks it is still good. the amsosunt of time spent patching our respective cms is probably more than the amount of time taken to add addresses to .htaccess, but we still do that! |

i went from about 15/20 attacks a week to maybe 1 per month...
right after i created my 203 kb htaccess file. |
