I receive various requests, from time to time, for specific applications. Within the past month or so, I have receieved 3 requests for a KIS version of a CHAT and 2 requests for a KIS version of a Weblog. There are many of these already out there, and I hesitate to put another one out. However, I'd like to get some feedback as to whether or not there is a need/desire. If so, what would distinguish KIS from the others? Why aren't the others meeting the grade? Is it only a *nuke version that is needed or is it both?
Your input is very important and I would like you to post your comments here, rather than privately. Thanks!

Gaylen,
You asked for feedback on your web site about a chat application and
weblog application. I'm using a weblog program called Analog at
http://www.analog.cx/ it is really a good program with one exception, the
DNS lookup is slow, so I use another 3rd party product called AnalogX at
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/qdns.htm which does a
faster DNS lookup. Between the two of them they do a great job, and the
best that I have seen. If you want to write another program, I would look
at them first for ideas, since they are good together.
I would love a different chat program. The one I'm using now was written
in Russian, and I would change in a minute if I found an easier one.
Keep up the good work, and THANKS!!!

I'm pretty happy with WebChat, except for 2 things.
1) I would like when users log in the chat they can view earlyer post, say the last 50 or so.
2) I wish I would it to open in the main (center) frame instead of a new url.
I am working on hacking this now.

My 2cents worth. While there are Chat and blog modules out there, I've found that there is a lot of hassle before getting them right. Also, the features seem to be tailored to the devoplers personal tastes.
What keeps my coming back here is the strength, build quality, support and responiveness I get from KIS scripts. Basically, if you build it Gaylen, I will use it.

I think that many chat programs are getting just plain boring, or so tied up with registration of users etc, it becomes too much for many casual visitors to join in a chat and say G'day.
Also many chat programs like ICQ, Messenger have taken over from the Site Chat rooms. So what we have now is a lack of interest in developing new chats using newer software like PHP Nuke for example.
Just my thoughts..... :)

I would love to see a PHP chat for a non-nuke web site. I have friends in college all over who have suggested I get some kind of chat for my web site. Since I trust Gaylen and his work, it would be awesome to have a chat from him. Something that would be good to incorporate would be a registration AND guest feature. A single room would be all I need, but it would be cool to have more for future use.
Thanks!

I would love to see a better weblog/journal module for php-nuke. I'm not liking the current php-nuke journal because it doesn't support either BBcode or html and users can't use image tags. The module needs evolution, badly.
